Introducing Farah Lopez, Director of Operations

Farah Lopez steps into her role as our new Director of Operations bringing a varied and colorful professional background that will fit right into the eclectic mix of our farm cooperative.

Along with her expertise in UX (user experience) design, public relations, marketing. copywriting and other business specialties, Farah is an actor and performance artist with chops that were good enough to land her a role as “Rafiki,” the shamanic character in the Disney musical, The Lion King.

Farah is a self-proclaimed “city girl” who has spent much of her professional career in the East Coast. Prior to accepting the position at Jubilee Justice, she created digital products and services as Senior UX Designer for a Pennsylvania-based financial investment firm. She comes to Alexandria, Louisiana as a newcomer to southern living, but she is not a stranger to running the day-to-day operations of a social justice focused business and organic farm that happens to be led by a Black woman.  Farah held a similar position in Vermont, as Director of Operations at ZAFA Wines a Black woman-owned vineyard and farm with a mission to “undo harm” and where wine is produced without pesticides or other types of chemical intervention.

Farah says that her job with ZAFA exposed her to farming for the first time, and the experience was transformative.  “Something spiritual happened to me being on that land,” she said.  “When that contract ended, I wanted to do something like that again.  I wanted to have a career at a place that was attached to something deeper than me.”

Through connections, Farah found out about Jubilee Justice and says she was impressed by their mission and the work of Founder Konda Mason.  She sent her resume to Konda and was soon invited to join their team.

“There are so many parts of this business that need to be managed,” says Konda. “Farah is exceptionally talented. She is so organized, and she knows how to manage diverse teams. Having her here will free me up and help us do everything more effectively.” - Linda Jones
